YAWWWWWNNNNNN!!
Excuse
me, I guess this old
Groundhog has been
hibernating as it
has been 3 months
since the last
newsletter. Well,
truth is, I could
use the sleep, but I
have not gotten it,
lol. As I sit here
now looking at snow
and ice and dreaming
of beer on ice, I
felt it is time I
update this page
before someone comes
hunting me with a
shotgun. So first
let me just say,
"How Y'all Been
Doing?" and "Are Ya
Ready To Ride?"
Let's
see, since it's been
so long, let me try
to condence and
catorgorize so you
might be able to
follow along.
NOVEMBER:
PMC and
Brothers of The
Wheel joined forces
once again as Bikers
For Charity to raise
money for needy
families in the
area. PMC
concentrated on
collecting money in
Portsmouth,
while BOTW
controlled New
Boston and
Wheelersburg. They
were joined by Able
Ambulance in
producing manpower
to work the
intersections on the
Friday after
Thanksgiving.
Half of all proceeds
went to New Boston
Police DPT. and half
to
Portsmouth
Fire DPT. to
distribute to the
families in need.
Approx. $12,000.00
was raised on this
day.
DECEMBER:
December 01, 2008 is
a date our Brother
Sleepy will remember
for it was his
wedding day. We wish
him and new bride,
Jodie, a lifetime of
happiness.
Our
Probate, Duck and
his fiance, Daisy,
also got married
this month.
Congratulations and
best wishes to them
as well. Some of the
single guys are
hoping its not
something in the
water causing this
sudden matrimony
movement, LOL.
Bikers
For Charity manned
the streets again
for another day on
Saturday, Dec, 08,
2008. Same situation
as before and on
this day we raised
approx. $11,600.00.
A
couple of our
members from the
past decided to
re-join us and were
voted back in.
Congratualations to
Mandatory and J.R.
Welcome home,
Brothers. We also
added Little Joe to
our ranks after 6
months of probating.
Welcome, Brother.
Our Toy
Run was Saturday,
Dec. 15th, and we
had terrible
weather, but still
had a decent
turnout. All toys
donated were taken
to the Salvation
Army and all money
donated was taken to
the Homeless
Shelter. We want to
thank Borderline
Skate Shop for being
a drop off point for
toys, as well as
Woody's Bar. And as
always,
Portsmouth
Fire Dpt. was there
to provide escort.
Thanks Guys!
Later
that same evening,
Santa returned from
his assistance on
our Toy Run to
surprise the
children of PMC
members at the
Children's Christmas
Party. Every child
received a present
from Santa himself.
We are proud to say
Santa is a good
friend of PMC and
supports us every
year. But Wait! We
were not finished
with him just yet:
Portsmouth
Fire DPT. took
leftover money that
was raised and had a
free toy give away
at Spartan Stadium
on Saturday, Dec.
22nd. This was
advertised as a give
away to anyone that
showed up. The line
was long as a Life
Ambulance Helicopter
arrived and circled
overhead. When it
landed, Santa
himself came running
from the chopper,
stopping to wave at
the crowd before
entering the
stadium. As the line
progressed,
Portsmouth
Fire Dpt. had hot
chocolate and
cookies for them,
passed out by
members of PMC
Ladies Auxiliary.
Then Santa, with the
assistance of PMC
members, personally
handed each child a
gift and paused for
countless pictures.
Special thanks to
Life Ambulance for
providing some much
needed late gifts to
insure every child
received something
from Santa. Our
special thanks to
Brothers of the
Wheel, Able
Amublance, Life
Ambulance, New
Boston Police Dpt.,
Portsmouth
Fire Dpt., Salvation
Army, Borderline
Skate Shop, Woody's
Bar, Santa and
mostly, the people
of our wonderful
community for all
they did in making
this a better
Christmas for
so many of our
neighbors. We are
very proud to have
been a part of it
all. Thanks
Everyone!!
We
received a surprise
contact from
Applebee's
Restaurant chain.
They are opening a
new store in New
Boston and upon
researching the area
and learning that
PMC is the "Oldest
Cycling Club In The
Nation", asked us to
be a part of their
decore. We supplied
photographs and
memorabilia that
will be displayed
inside when the
store opens. As I
type this, that
opening is behind
schedule, but we are
very much looking
forward to seeing
how it all turned
out. Thank you to
Applebee's for
thinking of us.
JANUARY,
2008
New
Years Day began with
our annual New Years
Day Ride. And as has
become tradition the
past couple of
years, we began the
day by going to the
Ohio River
and watching the
Polar Bear Club jump
in. This year was a
bit different
however, as several
of our own members
particiapated. There
was Shoestring,
Tequilla, LA, Tramp,
and Sugar Daddy.
Auxilary member
Angie and special
PMC friends Gidget
and Rebecca. As the
water temp of 38 was
greater then the air
temp in the blowing
snow, perhaps they
weren't as crazy as
it seemed. Nawwwww.
They were crazy! But
they all survived
and after a change
of clothes, joined
up on our Annual
Ride.
The
first meeting of the
New Year found us
with some new
officers. Returning
were our President,
Gizmo, Treasurer,
Shoestring,
Secretary,
Groundhog, Trustee
One, Chaindrive,
Referee, Tequilla
and appointed SGT of
Arms, LA. Our new
Vice President is
Laidback, new
Trustee Two is
Hawkeye and newly
appointed Ride
Captain is L'il Joe.
The
Ladies Auxiliary
also have new
officers.
Congratulations to
President: Vickie
D., Vice President:
Lela D., Treasurer:
Jill H., Secretary:
Becky M., Trustee:
Wilma M. They are
planning a dinner
for us guys on
Saturday, Feb. 23rd.
Thanks Ladies, we
love your Cooking!
LOL.
FEBRUARY,
2008
We have
two more probates
voted in as full
patchers.
Congratulations and
welcome to our
newest Brothers,
Pigpen and Mike B.
On a
sad note, Probate
Duck's father passed
away a few days ago
and his mother is
also in poor health
right now. Our
prayers and best
wishes to them as
they struggle
throught these hard
times.
Well,
I'm sure I forgot
something or
someone, so I will
apologize now, lol.
Our next run is our
Annual Spring Run on
Sunday, May 4th.
Details can be found
by going to Upcoming
Events page. We are
looking forward to a
great run and I
believe A-TownAssassins
will be making a DVD
of this event as
they did the Leaf
Run. Awsome job on
that guys and we
look forward to
seeing you again.
Remember everybody,
our Leaf Run had 240
bikes and 343
registered guests,
so be sure to attend
the Spring Run and
help us kick off a
new season of
riding. This year we
plan on working with
Portsmouth
Fire Dpt for the
Autism Run again. Of
course our Leaf Run
and our work with
Bikers For Charity
for Christmas time.
We are discussing
having another
Birthday Party like
we did in 2006, so
stay tuned for that
information.
Hope
this catches you all
up and I hope to be
more dilligent in
posting in the
future. Until I see
you again:
Stay
Safe and RIDE!!
